Gerard and Paula Lalor came to Ballybryan near Rhode, Co. Offaly in September 1982. Gerard is originally from Kilbeggan and Paula is from Kildare Town. They have three adult children, Rosemarie, Helen and David and two grandchildren Zara and Jared, who all help out with the turkey business at Christmas time on the farm. Originally a tillage and drystock farm; 28 years ago they decided to diversify and start raising and selling free-range turkeys. It proved to be a good decision, and to see so many return customers each Christmas purchase a Ballybryan Bronze Turkey as part of their own festive traditions gives the Lalors great satisfaction, and pride in their premium produce.

The orchard was planted in 2010 with a view to saving the old Irish Heritage apple varieties from extinction, while promoting their delicious taste and versatility. The apples are picked by hand in September, and the windfalls are happily eaten by thier turkeys who graze all day under the trees. The pure cold-pressed and cloudy apple juice produced has no added sugar or colouring is high in Vitamin C.
